Big Joe's Pizza & Pasta

I'm from the east coast (Maryland and some time in New Jersey) and have been in the DFW Texas area since 1992. This little place in Haslett, Texas right off FM-156 ranks right up there with good pizza places on the east coast. Ledos Pizza in Maryland was the absolute BEST (if anyone here has ever tried Ledos they'll know).



Big Joe's is the 2nd best pizza I have found here in Texas (best here is Mama's Pizza).



But does 2nd best get 4-stars from me? NO WAY! I MUST give them 5-stars considering the options here in the DFW area after Mama's and Big Joe's are such a GIGANTIC fall-off.



Take a native Yankee's word for it, Big Joe's is worth every penny spent and every mile traveled... They are THAT good. Whoever owns this place MUST BE a native New Yorker (or at least native east coast) who KNOWS something about how to make a good New York style pizza. These folks aren't just copying recipes, it's authentic.

This is THE BEST pizza around! Being a native New Yorker, I have not had real NY pizza since leaving NY in 2006! The calzones were the real deal and the eggplant sub FABULOUS!!! Too full to try the desserts, but will try to leave room for next time. If you want a taste of NY, you MUST try Big Joe's!!!

we order from the one on beach sometimes for lunch at work and it's always pretty good. however my buddy and were in a hurry and ordered a pizza to go a couple weeks back from this one on fm157. we pulled to their drive thru window and told the guy what we ordered and he comes back a couple minutes later and says "we got nothing for you bro" ...so i'm thinking my buddy probably called the wrong place or something. the guy asks what phone number he called and he double checks his phone and it's the right number. so we ask if he can he can check again. and again, he says more sternly "we nothing for you bro"....like he's on the streets on NYC LOL...meanwhile i'm comically thinking get the damn pizza dude. so then he asks, "you think i'm joking?" i'm expecting him to pull out a knife at this point and my buddy says i'm joking about as much you are that my pizza isn't ready. this whole time he never makes eye contact at all and stares off into the western sky like he's the godfather or something. very epic experience, won't be back LOL. my buddy and i still laugh about it. very impressive customer service.... but the pizza is pretty good at the other place. just need some new employees at this one. entertaining to say the least though. NOT RECOMMENDED. we ended up eating jersey mikes down the street.

I hate their fake accents! I grew up in Brooklyn, and I have never seen anyone with a FAKE accent.

I ask him for cheese balls, and I don't like em. They give me weird looks sometimes, too. I have never seen such a fake New York accent. In. My. Life.





But, the food is great. Try it.

We like it, especially the stromboli, and the deep dish Sicilian

The food here was really good. However, I do have issues with giving my hard earned money to people who don't even smile or say thank you! Even walking out, I made eye contact with who I thought might be the owner...no smile at all! Very rude group of people! They were busy too, so you'd think with the economy the way it is, they would be excited to see customers who PAY THEIR RENT & PAYCHECKS! For me, I want to spend my $$ on the whole package; service & quality.
