You have to expect places at the Music Center to be fairly expensive. Kendall's is on the moderate side, considering the location. They serve a sort of sophisticated, sort of Continental menu, with things like oysters on the half shell as appetizers. Everything I've ordered there ranged from good to great, based on half a dozen times or so in the past three years. They have moderately priced steak with fries, seafood (that's where it can get expensive), pastas, etc.
The atmosphere is casually elegant, busy and buzzing before and after theater/ symphony/ opera. One of my favorite things about it is that cast members (including the stars) show up there after performances. I've seen opera divas and others "holding court" for hours on end. It's really cool!
I see people dressed in evening clothes, but it's also casual enough that you won't be embarrassed in jeans and a sweater--although you might look a little silly in a scruffy t-shirt.
