A sleeve gastrectomy is a surgical weight loss procedure in which the stomach is reduced to about 15% of its original size by surgical removal of a large portion of the stomach. Endoscopy
Nausea or the inability to drink liquids indicates a blockage or acute tapering (stricture) of the sleeve. This condition may require an immediate endoscopy. Increased & continuous abdominal pain or left shoulder pain within the first few weeks of the surgery could be because of a late leak or perforation. Such leaks can develop much after the surgery and requires immediate medical attention. In some cases, immediate surgery may be necessary.

Dr. Eric Pham received his Bachelor of Science degree in Biological Sciences from the University of California, Irvine, and graduated Magna Cum Laude. He then went on to receive his Doctorate of Medicine degree from the University of California, San Diego, followed by a General Surgery residency at Loma Linda University Medical Center in Loma Linda, California. After his residency, he completed a rewarding year of fellowship in Minimally Invasive Surgery at the University of Southern California in Los Angeles.
