James works magic on curly hair. He tamed my frizzy hair into wonderful soft curls. The color and highlights are also amazing. I receive compliments every time I visit the salon. James has become a friend and helps people in the time of need. I wouldn't consider letting anyone else touch my hair.

This is hands down the WORST salon in STL. I too purchased a Groupon for myself and my friend back around christmas 2009... and was unable to be scheduled for all appointments together until april 2010.... I assumed this was becuase they were so good at what they did. I was sadly mistaken. I was called on 3 different occasions to reschedule every service of the certificate.. instead of doing all 4 services at once, i was know required to show up on 4 different occasions for a total of about 15 minutes a piece. It was finally time for me to get my manicure and my friend to get her hair cut.. she has curly hair (which requires a little more attention, as most of us know) and the stylist was finished with her in about 7 minutes... i was then told they didn't have time for my manicure which is when I lost it. They tried to make amends and "squeezed" me in for my nails... which were done so horribly bc she was rushing, that all the polish was off by that evening. As we were checking out, we were then told that the masseuse they had that was working with the groupons no longer worked there, and the new masseurs didn't honor the certificates. We were given $30 worth of certificates for future services... unless i can use that towards the purchase of their Bumble&Bumble products (the only nice part about that place) then I won't even waste my time going back to use them. I have never felt so insignificant as a client to a company before... and have to everyone that i know that its an awful experience. Try them if you like.. but i wouldn't waste your time.

I too am a regular at the salon and have never had a problem. I pay a little extra for the wonderful service and atmosphere. Those who pay for a couponed service and dont have any intention of ever coming to the salon again, dont have a right to post negative comments in my opinion. I would recommend this salon as the best in the city!!

I just got my haircut this week and was told by James about the bad experience he had with some of the Groupon customers. He precceded to tell me of these women coming in saying things ike,"I'll take your card, but I could never afford to come back", "I use Suave in my hair, so save your spiel",and "I just want what is on the Groupon, don't try and sell me anything else". He went on to say some of them don't even leave gratuity which is etiquette 101! The woman below is clearly upset about being charged for a blow-dry. It baffles me that she would not talk to James when she came in. Why would she come in if her daughters hair was butchered? I find it disheartening that the private owners who bring alot of tax dollars to St. Louis get beat up because someone is to cheap to pay alittle extra to support their business'. I know that james is involved in about 200 different charities and has rescued OVER 100 dogs from being euthanized. He is very fair when approached with respect. I am a huge fan of the salon and i always get a good cut (except once when he forgot my sideburns-so what). I asked him how many people come in and out of the door a month and I was shocked to hear over 2000! He must be doing something right, he is looking at expanding for the fifth time! Ladies....lighten up, insist on talking to James if there is a issue. I hated hearing these stories coming out of his mouth and I want to remind people that there are two sides to every story, and then the truth.

This was my first time using the salon and was totally exicited about all the great services I received! And I even like my hair!

I have been a customer for approximately two years now and I have always had a fabulous experience! I was referred to the salon from a co-worker at the time and have never been happier. From the moment I walk through the door until I leave, I always get the exceptional customer service and am treated with great courtesy and respect. I feel as if I have stepped away from reality into the best pampering salon in town. Regina is the best professional that I have ever received a manicure and pedicure ever and I schedule once with her every chance I get! Sladjana makes you feel so relaxed and special whether you are getting a wonderful facial or even getting a wax! Not many people look forward to waxing, but she always made you feel comfortable even in the midst of the "paper snatching!" I recommend any and all personnel at Mitchell James,
