1St Avenue Salon by Veka

I used to see Veka at a previous salon and was so happy to find her again when I returned to Arcadia! She gave me what feels like rock star hair. After I left a woman on the street complimented my hair, and a girl at Sephora asked who did my hair. My hair normally does not illicit such responses! Veka really listened to what I wanted and gave me back the blonde I had when I was a kid! Veka finished it off with a beautiful hair cut and an amazing blow out.

The space is bright and beautiful, and the front desk is friendly and inviting. I can not say enough positive things about this place.

VEKA gave me a consultation on hair extensions we went over all the different possibilities. Hair types, colors, length and styling. Amazing simply Amazing. Veka gave me volume the right hair texture the perfect length and the best cut I have had in years .The layers were flawless the end result spectacular. I don't know but I doubt there is anyone that can top her. VEKAS Salon rocks.

When I arrived I had a five minute wait, and in that time the most professional hairdresser I've ever had the pleasure of doing business with greeted me. While she was finishing up her client before me, she kept asking how I was and if I needed anything. She made the environment very comfortable to be in and I was very pleased.

Here is the reason I was so happy with VEKA. I have to admit I was never a fan of highlights because I felt they looked fake and streaky. But VEKA told me about her own technique that he uses which is to go within the hairline and the shape of your head to create a more sun-kissed look, rather than streaky lines. After her great customer service I trusted her to make my hair look great. I LOVED the outcome.

I have hot curly hair now!! After 25 years of stick straight hair and nights of attempted curls going flat within a half hour, I finally got the perfect "body wave" perm I was looking for. Veka was great - and listened when I said I wanted loose curls that looked natural. I was worried about how it would turn out, but it looks great - my boyfriend can't get over how much he likes it (and I can't get over how little time it takes me to get ready! I am a wash-and-go girl now!)

I have also been going for my haircuts and she always does a great job! Not only does she give me the style I ask for, she makes my hair look its best! Thanks to Veka @1st ave salon for making me look MY best!

I just had another incredible visit to 1st ave salon and am going to be happy about it for weeks. Veka just did my highlights for the four time. The results are really lovely. She nailed it the first time, and this visit is perhaps even better. It looks natural and has an extra-special shine. It actually looks like I just had a nice long, relaxing trip to the beach. My hair looks happy. Veka is also really great personally, conversational but not too chatty, warm, sincere and smart. By the way, she does an incredible blow-dry, the best of my life, although she just told me she doesn't normally do those. I feel very lucky to have found her and highly recommend her. This salon rocks. I'm going back on Saturday to get a cut.

I went from blonde back to my natural brown color and it looks great. I would recommend veka to anyone I know, I was so scared to dye my hair because I thought it was going to be jet black but it wasn't. The color and cut looks amazing!

I went and got Hair Extensions in 1st ave Salon for the second time yesterday. veka did a great job the first time and the second time. The experience was great. She is a good professional, business woman and very nice lady. This is my second visit. I drive an hour and a half each way because she is the best. Before getting my hair extensions done I asked a lot of questions and she answered them all very pleasantly. My big concern was if this was really a protective style and will it help my real hair get into better condition. When I took my first hair extensions out, my real hair was definitely in better condition. There was absolutely no breakage, thin, sparse spots were completely filled in, my natural hair was thicker then ever and I had half an inch of new growth, which is great, since human hair naturally only grows about half an inch monthly. The hair Extensions were very easy to remove and I kept them in for about 6 weeks. During that time I took care of them, wrapped them up at night with a silk sleep cap and kept my scalp clean using a spray shampoo method, moisturized and conditioned in between the parts. I had a month of worry-free beautiful hair. Just shake and go in the morning. I work in the legal professional and this style looked professional, neat, natural and sexy for evenings and weekends. I am so glad I found veka at 1st ave Salon.

My hair looks, and feels amazing! I'm a blonde with very thick hair, and have been getting highlights done to my hair for 10 years now and have never had them look so well blended, with so many dementions.

Today Veka in First ave Salon colored my hair.She brought it to my attention that I have a lot of golden in my natural hair color; with this she added high and low lights blending in with a golden color(not just bleach) and my hair color looks so great! It's perfect for the fall, not too blonde, but still pops. I love it! She has such a fun personality, I had a blast.

Next I had my haircut. She truly is such a wonderful person, so sweet. In the past no one ever knows how to shape my very thick hair. I feel it's always weighing me down. I have to say, I've had so many compliments on my haircut! Veka knew just what to do, to keep the length, keeping it healthy, and to add so much life and lightness to my hair. I feel like I've lost pounds of hair with all of the texturing she's given me.

I've never been more satisfied with my hair! I can't wait to show it off!

I went to 1St Ave Salon to get a brazilian blowout and I am so glad that I did. I purchased a Groupon for the treatment and never had anything like this done before. I had read reviews here on CitySearch and i was nervous. I was nervous but as soon as I got there, Veka made me feel so comfortable. She explained exactly what she was going to do and what would happen during the treatment.She was super attentive, always asking how I was doing.She did an amazing job on styling my hair afterwards how I usually do myself. I love the results! My hair has never been more straight, soft or smooth. I was able to wash and air dry my super curly hair with no products, blow drying or curlers necessary! It is the most unbelievable thing ever! If you have ever thought about getting the keratin treatment, Groupon or not, go to Veka at 1 st ave salon! You won't be dissappointed!

This salon was incredible. The Cippers Magazine was not only a fantastic deal but I will absolutely be returning. I had zero wait when I arrived, an amazing shampoo with a head massage, and Veka knew exactly what I needed when I told her what I was thinking. My cut is amazing and professional, She really changed my look for the better!Veka did an awesome job! She really listened to me and did what was needed to revive my hair. I would go back to her in a heart beat!

I rate myself as a very picky, hard-to-please client. I have been to MANY salons from the West to East coast and this salon surpassed all my expectations and experiences. From the moment I entered, I was greeted with smiles and very friendly staff, which is a HUGE part of the whole salon experience. In the past at other salons, if I didn't feel welcomed, I didn't return. This salon is staffed with the best of the best, and yet maintain their down-to-earth warm vibe.I had my hair cut by Veka, and she is the sweetest and most friendly girl! The moment I first spoke to her, I could tell that I would leave this experience in her hands, I trusted her that much. I never before felt like I didn't need to talk a stylist through what I wanted in my cut- she blew me away with her knowledge...a real professional. After she was done, not only did I get a perfect, beautiful cut, but she styled it with such precision, that it was the best looking hair I had ever had! Thank you to the salon for a wonderful experience, well veka. I will be back!

I received super star treatment from veka. Starting with a consultation, veka examined my hair and discussed with me what I desired out of the treatment and style. I expected that everyone received the same Keratin treatment, but veka picked specific products and tools for my hair type and desired look. She worked tirelessly on my hair for 2 hours (save a 10 minute break where the treatment just sat) and was extremely thorough, gentle and really personalized the treatment for me. The results are amazing. A glossy shine, very little frizz or reaction to humidity, and my hair is so much more manageable. I was on the fence whether this was worth it and the answer is yes yes yes yes! See veka and enjoy the summer with the hair you want!

I recently moved to the Los Angeles area from NYC. I was nervous about finding a new stylist in LA. I have nothing to worry about anymore since finding 1st ave salon. A few of my co-workers recommended me to 1st ave salon. Since it was close to where I live, I decided to check it out. I made an appointment for Color with Eric. He was incredibly nice and down to earth! I felt completely comfortable the whole time! The salon atmosphere was warm and inviting not pretentious, like most places can be . It was very refreshing! He did an absolutely amazing job on the color! . I am so thrilled! I thought the price was pretty reasonable, I will definitely be back again. Thank you Eric!!!

This girl was very different from prior hair cutters/stylists I've come across. She is very up front and wants to make your day by doing a great job with your hair. She knows how important it is to have consistent clientele and happy ones at that! You won't regret having Veka work with your hair and you'll be asking for her business card when it's over. She cuts men's hair well and she also cuts my girlfriend's hair, which is how I found out about her. Ask for Veka when you go to 1 st ave Salon if you want to look and feel like a rockstar!!! Yeahhhh!

As soon as I walked in the door there was a peaceful enviornment. I was greeted at the desk by a warm smile coffee and cookies.



My hair extensions, color, and cut was done by Linda B. she did a great job I looked and felf beautiful. I recommend her and I will for sure go back to the salon again.

I recently followed Veka here from dejjunesse salon, and love her new place. It is in a wonderful location and has an extremely relaxed feel. Everyone who worked there was so nice and accommodating.

Veka is the BEST!!! I have been switching stylists for two years now and finally found her and it is the best haircut and color I have ever had!! I was so sad when I called the other salon and they told me she was no longer there (and wouldn't give me her info) but I persevered and tracked her down on facebook!! I would recommend her to anyone and everyone and I LOVE the new salon!

I went to 1st Ave Salon on a recommenation of a friend after going to 3 places to get my highlights done..and not being happy with the results. I walked in and was greeting friendly. I thought the salon was cozy feeling and cute. I didn't really care, as long as I liked my hair. I had been referred to veka, and I have to say I LOVE my hair for the first time in a LONG time! She listened to what I asked for, and helped make it happen. I will definately recommend her to friends, and I will be going back. I hope this is helpful to others looking for a salon with good stylists.

What a great salon. It's a well-known establishment, so some attitude could be expected...but there's no attitude; instead, there is a real feeling of calm and the place is remarkably free of pretense. The personnel at the front desk are friendly and ready to answer any questions about the products (though there's no hard sell). The salon's space is not that large but it was soooo damned comfortable I almost fell asleep--I wasn't wedged into a chair in between other clients (which seems to be the norm in other salons). I could actually stretch my legs!

And most of all, I can't recommend my colorist, Veka, highly enough. She explained everything she was doing and kept checking on me (unlike some other salons where they sometimes "forget" to check the timing of color and then you're sitting there with color dripping down your face). I had a single process done to cover some grays and to pep up my color; in addition to the color she gave me a great conditioning treatment. My hair is 1000000% shiner and prettier than it's ever been! I've been to Veka twice so far and I have no intention of stopping; I have already booked my next appointment with her.

.I had the Brazilian Keratin treatment done for the first time 4 months ago, and I got spoiled so I just had it re-done. It lasts 4 months and it is fantastic!! My hair is the type that no matter how much time I spend on styling it at home, the moment I go outside and it's even slightly humid, it will frizz and look sloppy. If it rains, it's even worse. Once I got the Keratin Treatment, my hair looked as good outside as it did at home -- it didn't frizz even on the most humid days. Plus, if it got wet and dried naturally, there was never any frizz and I didn't have to run and hide. It still maintains my natural curl/wave but with absolutely no frizz! In fact, if I wanted to I could now wash my hair and let it dry naturally and it looks good. I could NEVER EVER do this before. Plus the treatment itself only takes about 2 hours and I have long hair. I will continue to have the treatment done every 4 months. And I have to add VEKA also worked wonders with my color!! Went in jet black and came out a natural rich brown with no damage. Couldn't be happier :) I highly recommend 1stave salon, especially if for color correction. Thank you VEKA!!! I saw Veka for my hair last week... my hair was just unruly dull, frizzy, grey/Brown, long and plain! Veka and I went over a great plan a of action . she thought we should deepen my color for spring but add a few highlights to brighten around my face wow what a difference!! my hair is shinny and multi dimensional as for the frizz?? she told me about a great new thing called the Brazilian Blowout she swears by it! its supposed to defrizz your hair in 2 hours and last 2-3 months! so I booked myself an appt for this week! after the color the assistant was great! She really relaxed me! my hair was long and I wanted something different but still I wanted hair she could see I was scared so she walked me thru the whole haircut before starting she added layers cut off the dead ends layered around my face it was perfect! My hair never looked so good I would HIGHLY recommend Veka to everyone! she so cute, friendly, hip and KNOWS what she's doing!!! you wont be disappointed!!

The first time I went to the salon, Veka made me feel like I was the only client she had. When I walked out, not only did I just love Veka but I had the best haircut I ever had.
